Brave Or Not

On the way to my younger sister’s home this afternoon, my younger sister’s husband catches two cicadas on a tree for Danny and Miaomiao. Danny feels excited about his dad catching cicadas, though he doesn’t dare to touch them. Miaomiao feels curious about the cicadas because she hasn’t seen the real cicadas before.

My younger sister finds a large transparent bag to put the two cicadas after arriving home. I take the bag and show the cicadas to Miaomiao and Danny. Actually Danny has seen the cicadas before as his dad has caught them before. But he still feels a bit afraid of the cicadas and only watches them through a certain distance. Miaomiao doesn’t feel afraid of it at all. She touches them from time to time on the bag and even laughs when they call or flip in the bag. She loses the interests on the two cicadas after a while and plays Danny’s toy then.

Miaomiao insists on taking the two cicadas with us when we leave Danny’s home and plan to go to the restaurant in late afternoon. She doesn’t want to walk by herself and asks me to hold her on the way. She shows the cicadas to Danny sometimes which scares him nearly to cry. Danny is really afraid of the cicadas. He starts to walk fast in front of us with his dad and keeps a long distance with us then. My younger sister asks Miaomiao to discard the two cicadas and let them free. But Miaomiao doesn’t listen. For this reason, Danny always keeps a certain distance with us when we get into the restaurant until Miaomiao put the bag with cicadas to a corner.

Miaomiao doesn’t afraid of cicadas and even touches them. She acts boldly on this point. But she often doesn’t dare to play with other kids at the beginning and behaves timid when she goes to the Children’s Playground sometimes. So is she brave or not?
