Play Magnetic Sheets

Miaomiao goes to play her magnetic sheets on the bamboo mat in the living room by herself this forenoon while i’m washing clothes in the washroom. Actually she hasn’t played those magnetic sheets for nearly a week, as she likes reading books and coloring pictures these days while she stays at home.

“Mommy, mommy, come here.” I hear she calls me when i am hanging clothes on the balcony. I go to the living room and find she is still playing her magnetic sheets. Her grandpa comes out from the kitchen this time and says “Let grandpa play with you for a while, your mommy is still busy now.” So i return to the balcony.

Miaomiao is watching her grandpa cleaning shoes in the shoe cabinet when i come back from the balcony. So i go to the kitchen and see what can i do for lunch. Then i hear Miaomiao asks her grandpa to play magnetic sheets with her in the living room. “This is the animal hospital, and the sick animals are all here.” I hear she says to her grandpa when i peel the cucumber in the kitchen.

Miaomiao’s grandpa comes to the kitchen with her grandma soon, and then i go to play magnetic sheets with Miaomiao in the living room. She is still looking at a vehicle made by the magnetic sheets on the bamboo mat when i come to her. “What’s this?” I ask her. “The animal hospital.” She replies. “Where are the animals?” “They all stay in the hospital.” She points to the small plastic sheets in the vehicle. There are animals’ pictures printed on these sheets. “It looks like an animal ambulance rather than an animal hospital. Let’s build a real animal hospital for them, ok? ” I look at that vehicle for seconds and then speak to her. “OK.” She replies and then we start to build animal hospital together. We transfer “animals” from the vehicle to the animal hospital. And then we build restaurants and playing areas for those “animals”. We also transfer “animals” from hospital to restaurants and to playing areas. Miaomiao is very attentive and very happy during this time. She focuses on transfering animals here and there, until we ask her to have lunch. She still plays those magnetic sheets with her grandma after supper.

Sometimes finding a new way to play some old toys with kids can make them like those old toys again. You can also have a try.
