Miaomiao often takes a nap in the afternoon this summer. But it’s really hard for her to sleep sometimes. Almost everyday after lunch she would say that she won’t sleep in the afternoon these days. But we still hope she can take a nap in the afternoon. Because she can have better energy to play after afternoon nap and she would easily lose temper in late afternoon and has to sleep very early at night if she doesn’t sleep in the afternoon.
So everyday i take her to our bedrooom to play or read books for her after lunch. She usually falls into asleep when she is tired. But in this way she always sleeps late in the afternoon. And sometimes she totally can’t sleep. Take this afternoon for example. As her father Sam has came back yesterday. So after lunch, she goes into our bedroom with Sam and pastes her stickers on the yoga mat on the floor. I enter into our bedroom after washing the dishes and go to sleep on the bed. Sam also goes to bed to sleep and asks Miaomiao to sleep on the bed too. Miaomiao climbs on the sofa and lies on it. “I sleep on the sofa today, it’s my small bed.” She tells us. She also gets her toy rabbit and holds it to sleep. She lies on the sofa for a while and then goes towards the bed. Then she throws her toy rabbit to bed and calls “The rabbit loops the loop!” She plays for a while and still lies on the sofa then. She seems not sleepy at all and talks to herself all the time on the sofa. She goes to the toilet with me after a while and goes to the bed after she comes back. But she still doesn’t sleep on the bed. She touches Sam’s mustache and my tummy and laughs continuously. She pulls our quilt and refuses to use her quilt sometimes. At last Sam goes out to the living room then. Miaomiao falls asleep later after singing her songs for a while. I get up and watch the clock – it’s already four o’clock in the afternoon yet.
So i’m really worry about her afternoon nap when she goes into the kindergarten in this september. As i know, kids in kindergarten usually take their afternoon naps after twelve o’clock in the noon. So what could she do if she couldn’t sleep in the kindergarten after lunch? Hope she can follow other kids to sleep well in the kindergarten. And maybe i also should think what can i do to help her form a regular daily routine at present?
