Mom Goes To See The Dentist

I have got a toothache and filled my bad teeth at the dentist sevral years ago. But the fillings in one of the patched teeth were out sevral weeks ago. So i decide to see the dentist today and fill the bad tooth again. Miaomiao and her grandma also go to the dental clinic together with me.

“Mom will go to see the dentist today, do you want to go there with me?” I ask Miaomiao in the morning while she is eating her breakfast. “Yes, what’s dentist?” She seems a bit excited. “Dentist is the doctor of the teeth. Mom wants to see the dentist because mom has a bad tooth in the mouth.” I explain to her and open my mouth to show her the bad tooth. “Is that because you ate too much candies before?”She looks at my teeth for a while and asks. “Yes. So you can’t eat candies often. And also if you brush your teeth everyday, you don’t need to see the dentist.” I tell her. “Is it painful to fill a tooth?” She continues to ask. “Yes. Do you want the dentist to help you look at the teeth?” “No, i just watch the dentist filling mom’s tooth beside.”

We go to the dental clinic by bus after breakfast. There are many people in the 2nd floor of the dental clinic waiting when we arrive. And the dentists are all working on the 3rd floor. We wait on the 2nd floor for about half an hour and then it’s my turn. According to the rules in the dental clinic, Miaomiao and her grandma still wait on the 2 nd floor while i go to the 3 rd floor to see the dentist. A young dentist cleans my bad tooth and then fills it with special fillings. I go back to the 2nd floor after my tooth is well patched.”Where did mom go just now?” Miaomiao asks me immediately she sees me. “On the 3rd floor at the dentist” i tell her. “Who filled the tooth for you?” “That young dentist you have seen.”

As it’s raining when we get out of the dental clinic, we take a taxi to go home directly then.

When i ask her to brush teeth before sleep at night, she brushes her teeth very well though she still says that she hate brushing teeth as usual. Because i tell her that she will need to see the dentist soon if she doesn’t brush teeth everyday. These words didn’t work to her before. But they work today.

The reality ‘speaks’ louder than words. And leting the kids see by themselves is more impressive than the words you tell them. That what i feel from today.
