Distract Her Attention

It’s sunday today. Sam drives his car and takes Miaomiao and i to the Suguo supermarket nearby after breakfast.

We buy some articles for daily use, some fruit and snacks there. And then we push the shopping cart out of the supermarket. Miaomiao sits in front of the shopping cart all the time. On our way to the underground parking lot, we come across a kids playing area with multiple items for kids such as clay area, fishing area, painting area, etc. After telling Sam take care of Miaomiao, i enter into this kids playing area and ask the staff in it about the prices and related items about playing in it. As i plan to take Miaomiao here to play next time if it’s not expensive for kids to play in it. I stay in the area chatting with the staff for about three minutes and then get out of here. Then i hear Miaomiao crying in the shopping cart. I rush to her and Sam tells me that Miaomiao crys because i leave her and go to the kids playing area without taking her along just now. So i hold her and try to explain and comfort her. She doesn’t listen but keeps on crying on the way and even when we are sitting in the car. At last she crys and says that she also wants to go to the kids playing area and wants to go there right now. As we are on our way home by car, and also because we have many housework to do at home, i can’t take her back to there. She keeps on crying. Then i try to distract her attention. “Do you want to eat small children’s dumplings? I will cook some for you at home.” She doesn’t reply and continue crying. “Do you want to eat frozen suckers? We can have some at home together.” I continue to ask her. “Yes, i want to eat one.” She answers this time and continues to cry after that. “Which color do you want, white, yellow, or pink?” “white” “Which kind of flavor is white frozen sucker like? ” “litchi” “…” “…”
So in this way i successfully transfer her attention and she stops crying and talks to me.
After going home, she shares a white sucker with me and then plays by herself well. Sometimes distracting a baby’s attention is a good way to stop her cry. Do you think so?
